In the summer transfer window, Fiorentina sold 20-year-old Italian attacker Riccardo Braschi to Swiss club Thun. Fiorentina has secured a buy-back option for Braschi, valid for the next two years.
Braschi’s contract with Thun runs until June 2029. His current market value is €2.00 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Before moving to Switzerland, Braschi had attracted interest from Italian clubs Catanzaro, Modena, and Avellino. His decision to move abroad indicates a desire for new experiences.
Braschi stated that he was disappointed by the lack of opportunities at Fiorentina but respects the club’s decision to sell him. He hopes to wear the Fiorentina shirt again and aims to prove himself to encourage Fiorentina to exercise the buy-back clause.
Despite being a recognized young talent at Fiorentina, Braschi found it difficult to break into the first team. Moving to Thun is expected to provide him with regular playing time, exposure to a different league, a less pressured environment, and increased responsibility, all of which can contribute to his development.
Braschi has made one appearance for Italy’s U18 national team. His move to Switzerland could potentially increase his visibility for future national team call-ups.
Prior to his transfer to Thun, Braschi was linked with Catanzaro, Modena, and Avellino, indicating recognition of his talent within Italian professional football.
Riccardo Braschi’s transfer to Thun is a significant career move, supported by Fiorentina’s buy-back option. His success in Switzerland could prepare him for a return to Serie A.
